Sendai, Miyagi, Sep. 12, 2024. 3DC, a Japanese manufacturer and supplier of Graphene Mesosponge (GMS), an advanced carbon material for battery technology, is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a recipient of the major R&D and commercialization grant program, GX, managed and sponsored by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). Over the course of the three-year program period, 3DC will receive up to JPY 500 Million ($3.5 Million) in funding. This follows the recent announcement of our selection for the Cabinet Office’s SIP and BRIDGE programs.

3DC will use them to accelerate research and development of conductive additives for lithium-ion batteries (LiB) using GMS. By addressing design limitations that traditional carbon materials have struggled to solve, GMS will enhance LiB performance, contributing to the realization of a carbon-neutral society.

GX is one of Japan's most significant initiatives for fostering groundbreaking innovation. It provides comprehensive support for deep-tech startups engaged in high-risk, high-impact research and development. 3DC's selection for this program reflects the government’s recognition of its technology as a key solution to global challenges.
