Sendai, Miyagi, October 4, 2024. 3DC, a Japanese manufacturer and supplier of Graphene MesoSponge® (GMS), an advanced carbon material for battery technology, ispleased to announce that it names Ryo Moriya as Company's new CFO as of today.
Why did 3DC name a new CFO ?
Since its establishment in February 2022, 3DC Inc. (the "Company") has beenengaged in research and development and manufacturing for the commercializationof GMS, which is expected to have high performance as a functional conductiveadditive for battery technologies. Also, the Company has raised a total of JPY580 million ($4.1 million) in funding from Japanese venture capitals andindustrial players, and as mentioned in its previous press releases, was selected for several grants sponsored by the Cabinet Office of Japan and NEDO(New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) in August andSeptember 2024. The Company is accelerating business development for massproduction.
On the other hand, as the Company moves forward with the mass production andcommercialization of GMS, medium- to long-term growth strategies, capital andfinancial strategies, and sophisticated communication with investors are urgentissues. In order to create long-term shareholder value, it was essential tostrengthen the management team with the above capabilities.
Underthese circumstances, the Company has decided to name Ryo Moriya as CFO, who hasextensive experience in investment banking at SMBC Nikko Securities and instrategic planning and corporate transformation at McKinsey & Company.
Ryo also has a unique background that fits the Company's culture. He holds amaster's degree in chemical engineering from Kyoto University, where he was aclassmate of CEO Kuroda. He had studied carbon composites where CSO Nishiharahad studied when he was a doctoral student. The Company believes that Ryo has astrong affinity with 3DC and its management members and he would contribute to the Company's long-term growth.
Ryo's career
At SMBC Nikko Securities, he had engaged in domestic and cross-border M&A transactions as well as fundraising transactions for Japanese public companies as an investment banker. At McKinsey & Company, he had engaged in various staretic and transformational projects mainly in industrial and energy sectors. He had also leveraged his investment banking experience to support CFO agenda with Japanese corporations.
